I'm not sure who made those fliers, but I'm very much so into them. In other news: we had practice today and fleshed out the new set. Probably going to annoy most of you. New shirts on the way. And also: those that lent their voice to the record vis a vis the Brautigan poem: I'll take care of you on the ASAP.

If you live in the Northwest and would be willing to drive us around from March 18 - March 21, please email us. This is not a joke. We may need shuttling. We would, of course, pay for all relevant expenses. Only real qualification is that you need to have a passport that is valid and functioning. Hyde Park Half redux

Thank you times one million to Lewd Acts for letting us torment ourselves down in your Escondido garage. It is a strange thing to be playing these new songs. Trying to figure out new material puts you right back to square one as a band and it's humbling and exciting and devastating each time. There was a car wreck up the street sometime after we played and in some ways it was like a ghost image of our set. We were ultimately gratified to have seen the sets of both Hot Skin and Hour of the Wolf, both bands whom fall under the "will actually listen to their CDs and not just play shows with them" category. After the show we ran into a person named Taylor that has continually supported our band. He asked some questions about the new record and here's what the answers were:

"Yeah, Pirates Press has all the music and artwork now so we're just waiting on them."
"Probably around January 10."
"Black vinyl."
"Or maybe two different colors - black and white, like me."
"There should never be a line in front of a men's restroom."

In Hyde Park Half news, another meeting was had today and slow-but-steady progress is being made. If you haven't yet had a chance to check out a show there, please do so. Non-profit status is being secured and a full-scale tutoring/test prep/arts instruction center will be opening by summer. Please get involved! And, in the meantime, go to our show there:

What else would you like to know? That our van got towed at the request of the Buena Park Police Department? That we will be having band practice all day long this coming Saturday? I watched Food, Inc. recently and regardless of whatever politico/brainwashy/propagandizing was obviously stitched into the celluloid of that film, I just could not understand the insanity that is seed patenting. Every member of DANGERS is vegetarian or vegan and we all have our own reasons for having made that choice. However, one might very well wish he was a robot so as to not eat anything at all.

I just got back from seeing Wayne The Train Hancock at the Continental Club with my old best friend and a slew of other dance-shoe enthusiasts. A great way to celebrate being thankful. What a great show. Great great great. He's the motherfucking "viper of melody" for goodness sake. Anyway, that show running long meant that you got to hear the record for a few extra hours. Hooray! It's no longer up, but you will be able to buy it at Vitriol Records very soon. For those of you that lent your voice to the reading of the poem, you will be handsomely rewarded. For those of you that have already ripped the stream and are spreading our record on mediafire or whatever, we hope you contract mouth herpes. We are totally fine with passing the record out, but the lyrics are very important to us and it's a bummer to have people listening along without reading along. Anyway, you give a mouse a cookie, right?

Shows at Hyde Park Half

Dear World,

Sometimes you get so busy chasing the horizon that you don't realize that horizon is already here. By which, I mean: Hyde Park Half. After years and years of wanting to get involved with a permanent solution to the dearth of venues here, I think the future may be closer than I had thought. Los Angeles is one of those places that continually shoots itself in the foot when it comes to DIY venues for music and other community events. The graveyard of one-great-venues has claws of adamantium and they come ripping fast and furious: The PCH, The SOS Project, Headline Records, The Ojai Women's Club, and on and on ad infinitum. Hyde Park Half seeks to be a sort of antidote to this problem.

The aim is to create a space that will showcase wonderful music a few times a month. The aim is also to create a space that will provide free tutoring and educational support for the Inglewood community. The aim is also to provide free artistic outlets for the Inglewood community. In all, Hyde Park Half seeks to tourniquet our constant lack of venues while also offering much needed community outreach to the city of Inglewood, where the venue is located.

If you wish to play a part in this new project, please email Hyde Park Half directly at hydeparkhalf@gmail.com or check the Hyde Park Half website. There will be a meeting this Sunday, November 8th that you should plan on attending.

Dear Fan of Our Derelict Music:

We are writing to inquire as to the possibility of you helping us with our new record, currently titled "Messy, Isn't It?" and slated for release sometime this decade. We are nearing the completion of the project (and, my, what a "project" it has been!) and stand at an impasse that you may, hopefully, be able to assist us with. The title of the record, as you probably are aware of, is lifted from the suicide note of a man named Richard Bruatigan. In an effort to both pay homage to this man and to increase the aural diversity of our little recording, we are going to include a reading of his poem "Love Poem" on our record. This, oddly enough, is where you come in!

We are asking you all to record yourselves reading this poem. After you record yourself reading this poem, save the file in .wav, .aiff, .mp3, or .mp4 format. After you have saved the file, send us the file at: wearedangers@gmail.com so that we will be able to hear it! Remember to include your (real) name somewhere in the email so that we can accurately thank you in our luxurious liner notes. So we played a very fulfilling set at this year's Rainfest. A man named Josh Broome took this picture of what it looked like:

Thank you to all of our friendly friends up in the pacnorwest for helping us out. We know we have been touring on very old material so it was nice to still see so many of you still care about what we are doing. As has been promised numerous times, we are currently in the studio. Here is a quick little peek into what's been going on:

We are shooting for the record to be done in August and to come out officially in September. It will be 17 songs and about 35 minutes long and may or may not include a free shirt. We continue to look for new/awesome art, so send clever art-type things our way (wearedangers@gmail.com) if you think your fingers can hack it. We should also be doing some touring once the record is out and we stop boring everyone.

A quick note about current shirt/CD orders: all members of the DANGERS/Graf Orlock/Ghostlimb post office team will be out of the country from June 17 to July 17. Don't freak out if your order has not yet arrived. All orders were shipped today (June 17) for the past month. Sorry for the wait.

Will be listening to Archers of Loaf on the plane today.

So, the show in Santa Cruz has been canceled. Turns out Cafe Pergolesi was into aiding the federales in the AETA cases. Lameski. None of the bands involved thought it was good and right to play at that venue given those circumstances. Instead, we have lined up the following show in Fresno, CA:

Back home. Very well-spent weekend. Santa Cruz. Benefit for AETA2 and AETA4. Loud music, merch on the floor, so many boys still these days. Saw Run With The Hunted finally. Stickers from Swampdonkey! Ate a jalepeno burger-type-thing at Saturn Cafe. Slept at Mandy/Adrian's house with Braveyoung and saw semi-nudes on the wall. Woke up, ate a delicious sandwich from Nob Hill Grocery, drove, saw where James Dean died, drove more, was depressed by Barstow, had to tinker with the van's starter there, kept driving, arrived at Yayo's Tacos. Met Tracy and Alex, ate delicious tofu tacos, helped moved some tables and chairs, set up merch. Watched bands, got nose upset with foot-stench of lead singer. Played music. Wondered if kids there could do anything positive to change things, doubted, hoped. Loaded van, tried to start it, bemoaned the fully-fucked starter. Drove around with Alex to buy new starter parts. Stayed well out of the way while Justin, Adam, and Tim fixed the car. Experienced The Raft while the fixing was occurring. Enjoyed the great earthangel-ness of Miguel, the Yayo's Taco employee that was the man who was really responsible for getting the van fixed. Started the van. Drove awhile. Got tired. Let Tim drive the rest of the way. Went to bed in the early morning.

Cocaine Tacos in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas show now has a home at a venue/taqueria that calls itself Yayo Tacos. A full-blown report will follow our visit. Get it? Until then, here is the wonderful flier as imagined by the show's tireless curator, Tracy Lopez:

As you can see, our cohorts in Ghostlimb will be sacrificing their phalangal epidermis as well. Those other bands remain a mystery to me for now, but the names invoke a midnight ravage of sorts that sounds enticing.

Please keep in mind the upcoming Santa Cruz show and the upcoming 924 Gilman show we will be playing. Further live performances will accompany cities such as San Francisco, Reno, and Sacramento with some luck. We'll be posting some recording updates soon as well.

This was the feeling we were having but weren't diligent enough to keep tabs on. You can't expect too much from a man with so many large backs to scratch.

Greek Seal Education

Everyone's favorite time of the year! The Canadian seal-hunt season has now been open two full days. For those of you who have had your omnivorous heads in the clouds for the past few decades, maybe thoughts of a cute baby seal getting clubbed on the ice will prove a useful image! Probably not! In other news, Greek government wants to both give police the power to arrest demonstrators for wearing masks and is considering an end on the ban of police entering university campuses. Good on ya Greece! Lastly, anyone have thoughts on Denis Rancourt? Dismissal will be heard by the University of Ottowa B of G in a week. Weak.

We are also playing a show in Santa Cruz now. It is on April 10. There are other bands like Ghostlimb and 7 Generations and Judas and Braveyoung (formerly known as Giant) playing. Here is a proper advertisement that some skillful gentleman made with a ram's skull on it:

My half-brother attended U.C. Santa Cruz. Which you can decode as you see fit. And in other Santa-Cruz-related events, maybe I should take a moment to talk about the last time we played there. I'm not sure the name of the place, but the boys from Fischer hooked up a house show and it was a lively and entertaining affair. I remember most a lady of ~~nearly 30~~ exactly 23 years that kept rocking out front and center, her (rather bountiful) bosom plowing into me with reckless abandon. I made numerous and violent attempts to steer very clear of her heft to no avail. I bring this up only in relation to the idea of "Santa Cruz" and the images it conjures up in my head, and also to briefly allow us all a moment to reflect on howfor/whyso it is that such an instant stands out so vividly in my mind. Which is mostly because of how rare it is for a lady to be anywhere near our jam sesh's. I.e. never. Some wallflowers, a few claws at our backs, but that's it. I watched VH1 Classic Albums: Nirvana's "Nevermind" on Youtube the other day with Sven and at some point (4:17 of this clip) some prescient half-wit talks about how "everybody" knew Nirvana was going to make it big because girls would always dance (dance?!) at their early gigs. So then, clearly a high cleavage-to-performance ratio yields fame, fortune, and everything that goes. Endpoint being: our band is doomed. Save for the glory of this one punktress lady with her chest all hither and thither, ours is a rockstar life built on the backs of pubescing boys.

Alas, no heroin money for us.

Also, we are looking for (good) (visual) artists. This includes but is not limited to: drawers, painters, fabrics majors, photographers, and transcendent athletes. If you fall within that empire, gladly send us a communiqué via our e-mail (wearedangers@gmail.com) and maybe we can "work together."

Dear Santa Clarita (if that's your real name),

On behalf of the three other boy-men in this group of banshees, I would like to extend our humble gratitude vis-a-vis your treatment and warm reception of our ragtag operation this past Friday, March the 6th. Truth be told, we expected some amount of good spirits, but nothing near the great din you all created within the cozy confines of that Bradys-esque homestead and its adequately powered garage. Many good cheers to you all! Some slight no-thank-you-ing to the tall Latino sir that unkindly pummeled the drum kit thricely during our grooving. Wherefore went your brain organ, sir? Those skins come at a heavy price! Beware of a repeat attempt, young man!

Charged was sweet. And what vibrations I heard through the wall of Cathedrals and DeadHead were vicious.

Oh, and if you bought a shirt or something from us: thank you. And if you took a shirt without paying, try to at least give us back the cost of making the shirts ($4.50).

We will be playing a free show in the musty confines of a Saugus garage on Friday March 6. We are most comfortable in musty confines, especially those of the garage variety, so all cylinders should be pumping in top form. Also, it's one of the last shows for Charged, so that should be of interest. Saugus, for those of you not in the know, is very near Six Flags Magic Mountain, to which I would like to offer my very serious and hard-to-come-by commendation. X2, Tatsu, and Goliath are all works of artistic genius. It is one of very few sources of legitimate joy that my father and I have ever had the opportunity to share.

Notes from the sickbed

Here I am, SICK. Some sort of tonsil issue. Unfun.

Spent the day watching episodes of Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" via Youtube and an S-Video cable we use here at my homestead to connect the computer to the television since we are without "cable" or "direct TV" or any of those notions.

Also spent the day sending out all existing orders made for shirts on this website. Let me say a continual and sincere "thank you" to all of you who have offered us your money over the past few weeks. Don't know if you've heard, but the economy isn't doing so well and it's spending like yours that is vital to making sure the wheels of recovery keep spinning. Obama would be proud!

We are going to continue to offer some goods to the right and will be adding a few more things shortly. Or "shortly." Keep checking for new supplies if the ubiquitous repeat logo shirt bores you to death or if you aren't very much interested in purchasing music we released two plus years ago.

To remedy that last situation, we are continuing our efforts in the studio. Recording is on a steady path to occurring in the coming weeks. We are all very excited. Sixteen songs have been loaded up on the slate for production and they are "doozies," if I do say so myself. It is a record influenced by such things as:

I also watched Roman Polanski's "Chinatown" for the first time today. I feel confident in endorsing it. That is where the whole "How 'bout them apples?" line comes from. Didn't know that.

East Coast Show

We did not play our last show yet.
In fact, we've got another lined up for the month of November.
Here is the info:

That's right! We are playing in Vermont. Our good friend Ryan (who plays in the band Unrestrained) asked us to come out for the show and we were very happy to oblige. The show benefits youths in the area. It's being put on by a nonprofit called Big Heavy World. So that we are completely transparent: we are being flown out for this show and playing for free. The chance of our trip being worth the carbon imprint on the Earth is slim to none. The challenge is for all of you to come out to prove us wrong.

There have been loads of you writing to ask us to come play your city/town/province/etc. Keep doing it! Some of you are even from the east coast. It's very nice to know you'd like to see us. For now, this Indiecon show is about as close as we are going to be able to come. Hopefully some of you will find it worth the trek. We can't promise to pay for your gas, but we can promise to make some merch or something that you can put on eBay and maybe that will work.

We are still writing the album.
It gets grimmer by the day.

We'll post some videos from the shows up north a few weeks ago.

Saved By The Buoyancy Of Citrus

Hello.

We recently played a very wonderful show up in Tacoma at this year's Rainfest. We had not played in quite a long time and we were all interested in how it would go. From our standpoint, everything far exceeded our expectations. Thank you to all of you that came out to support us. We appreciate your enthusiasm very much. There were a lot of new faces and a lot of old ones, but all of them ugly as all hell. We were impressed by Black Breath and Skin Like Iron. Thank you to them for playing. Thank you also to Weltner, Mioli, and Skiffington for inviting us to play.

Don't Call It A Comeback

Hello.

We are back. We are still a band. We have given in to the blog craze. We will be able to update this much more frequently. We are sorry for having lagged. We will do our best not to lag anymore. We will tell you what's going on:

1) We are (still) writing a new record.
2) We are playing Rain Fest up in Seattle on the last day (Sunday).
3) We are setting up some other shows as well.
4) We did a radio interview a few weeks ago with KSPC.
5) We are working with All Systems Go! in Sweden.

Stay tuned as we work out the kinks of the new site. Soon you will be able to download our (out of print) demo and S/T EP. For now, everything we've done is streamed over there to the right. We will also have a way for you to order some merch up soon. We have some cool upside down cross longsleeves that are perfect for the lingering winter chill.
